A Visit to the San Miniato Truffle Fair in November

Everything you might want to eat is to be found at the San Miniato truffle fair--and a few things you might think twice before ordering. The roast suckling pig is one of the foods I like best about Tuscany and Umbria. Called porchetta (pork-etta), you can get it at markets and festivals. Order "un etto" to get about 1/4 pound of sliced pig, or sometimes they'll have bread rolls and you can get a "panino" of porchetta. No, they've never given me the head, although it looks like some has been sliced off here.
