The Cathedral of Speyer is a Romanesque basilica founded by Emperor Conrad II in 1030, consecrated in 1061. The crypt is preserved in pretty much its original state, and contains the tombs of eight German emperors and kings, as well as several bishops. The Cathedral was made a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1981.
