St. Pierre Le Jeunne Church in Strasbourg - The Entrance

Here's a picture of the unassuming entrance to St. Pierre Le Jeunne Church in Strasbourg. I'm not a traveler who makes church visits a priority, but St. Pierre Le Jeunne is quite interesting inside, featuring some wonderful medieval frescos that bring the period alive in a way that's quite unexpected.

The present site of St. Pierre Le Jeunne was once a wooden oratory for "the ordinary folk" living near Strasbourg's boundary. In 1031 a new church was begun, consecrated by Pope Leon IX, who dedicated it to St. Peter. It was called "St. Peter the Younger" to differentiate it from St. Peter's chapel, which already existed in Strasbourg.
