Todi is one of the many interesting hill towns in Umbria, in many ways my favorite region of Italy because of the smaller tourist load than nearby Tuscany.
Todi, surrounded by medieval, Roman and Etruscan walls, features one of my favorite public spaces--the Piazza del Popolo is surrounded by large buildings (palazzi) built in Lombard-Gothic style.
Todi is well worth a day trip from nearby cities like Perugia.
