The Sleek Gates to the Eurostar Terminal - Plenty of staff to help you with the machines

James Martin
If your ticket has a magnetic strip on it, you can just send it through the machine, collect it and pass through. As with an airline flight (and unlike other train experiences) you'll pass through a security area, where your baggage will be inspected, then a passport control area.

From there you'll find a waiting room like you might find at an airport. Islands populated with helpful people will answer your questions. If you've purchased a full fare ticket (either first or second class) you're eligible to use the lounges (in Waterloo station called "Le Salon" and the smaller "Le Petite Salon," open for afternoon crowds).
