Lamberti tower is the focal point for Verona's Piazza delle Erbe, the fruit and vegetable market built on the site of the Roman forum. It is the center of medieval Verona.
You can climb the 84 meter high Lamberti Tower to see the views of Verona stretching from this central point--or for a single Euro you can take the lift. It's the best Euro I've spent in Europe yet. The visit itself is free with the highly recommended Verona Card.
Construction on Torre dei Lamberti began in 1172, so it's been up there a while--just in case you were afraid of the heights.
Nearby is the Piazza dei Signori with its statue of Dante and buildings which date from the 14th century, reached from Piazza delle Erbe by passing through the Arco della Costa (1470), a high arch with dangling whale rib at its midpoint.
