Where I Went in Scotland
Isle of Skye - Ultimate destination for our first trip.
What I did in Scotland
The most beautiful place I have ever been - dramatic and breathtaking. Spend at least 2 full days, driving leisurely around the island.
We found some wonderful spots almost by accident; by the time we reached the top of the Trotternish Peninsula we were ready for lunch. And there appeared a restaurant! We went in and ordered a lunch at the bar - when going to wash our hands we went through a dining room that looked out over the water and Duntulm Castle ruins. The view was unbelievable - so we gathered up our plates and transferred to the otherwise empty dining room. What a meal we had before exploring the castle.
Another visit we were trying to find a B&B on short notice - finally after many phone calls we found one with availability. We were told it was out on Neist Point - the last house on the right. It certainly was! With a peat fire in the living room the view from our bedroom window was beyond spectacular.
Tips and Tricks
- Drive slowly - so you don't hit any sheep and be sure to keep your eyes open for pull over places. Many of the roads are single track and someone needs to pull over so the oncoming vehicle can pass. Be sure to wave your thanks if the other car pulls over for you.
